Loreto Sisters in Vietnam

Loreto Sisters have lived in Ho Chi Minh City for over 19 years and work in a variety of ministries. There are currently six professed Vietnamese Sisters.

Sr Hoa manages St Mary’s Hostel, offering accommodation for disadvantaged young women from the countryside who attend university in the city. Sr Thoa is engaged in a range of pastoral ministries in a very poor parish. Sr Trang works alongside the Salesian Sisters, educating young adults in a charity school for disadvantaged students, and assists Hoa at St Mary’s Hostel. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology). Sr Vi is a highly experienced nurse who works in a local clinic, while Sr Trinh holds a Bachelor of Communications and is currently studying Philosophy.

The first Vietnamese Sister to be missioned outside of Vietnam is Ai Thien. She is currently the Director of ‘Centro Loreto,’ a pre-school and community centre in Gari-uai, a village near Bacau, Timor-Leste, that supports and encourages the development of local teachers who provide quality education for young children.
