Loreto Sisters
Mary Ward had the incredible gift of imagining possibilities and taking risks in order to begin something new. In this way, Loreto Sisters frequently relocate to explore new possibilities, begin new initiatives or support others where the need is greatest.
Lord, let that be possible to me by your grace which seems impossible to me by nature.
– Mary Ward –
In the Loreto Province of Australia and South East Asia, 72 active and retired Sisters share the vision and mission of Mary Ward as they contribute their gifts, in employment and in a voluntary capacity, across a variety of areas including:
- Advocacy for the disadvantaged
- Arts
- Education
- Parish ministry and pastoral care
- Prayer
- Social justice
- Social services
- Spiritual guidance
- Theology
Loreto Sisters work in partnership with colleagues to create a more just world. Courage, commitment and generous openness underpin the work and life of a Loreto Sister. They can be asked to leave significant responsibilities in order to serve elsewhere in challenging environments.
