Overview

A House in Blackburn was founded to provide a community for sisters staffing the St. Thomas the Apostle School which was then both secondary and primary until the secondary was closed around 1975.

The house was located at 3 Gordon Crescent, Blackburn.  Mother Bonaventure Martyn was the first Superior of the Blackburn community.

St. Philip’s School in North Blackburn was opened on 8th February 1965 also staffed by Loreto sisters, Sr. Helen Salter being the first Principal.

The Blackburn community moved into a new house in Parkside Street in 1997.
