Mary Ward International Australia
Mary Ward International Australia (MWIA) is part of the Mary Ward International network established in 2002 to support the development works of the Loreto Sisters throughout the world.
Inspired by its founder Mary Ward, Loreto is committed to working towards a more just world where there is tangible respect for the dignity of each person and equal opportunity for all. In particular, Loreto and MWIA works towards the empowerment of women and children.
MWIA is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. The Company is a charitable institution established to address the needs of the most disadvantaged in Australian society and in developing countries around the world.
The MWIA Volunteer Program allows those interested in our work for justice and development to become more involved and to share their skills, time and passion to improve the lives of people in Australia and overseas.
MWIA’s mission is:
to support the development works associated with the Loreto sisters and their colleagues as they empower women to transform structures and systems that keep them oppressed and marginalised.
