Mary Ward Week 2025

Each year the Loreto Province of Australia and South East Asia joyfully celebrates Mary Ward Week, alongside our global Mary Ward family of IBVM and CJ Sisters around the world. Mary Ward Week begins on 23rd January, to honour her birthday in 1585, and concludes on 30th January, the anniversary of her death in 1645.

The week-long celebration honours the remarkable life and legacy of Mary Ward, whose journey inspires us to live as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. This year’s theme ‘Mary Ward – A Pilgrim of Hope’ interlinks with the Jubilee theme of Pope Francis, which invites us to be agents of hope in our communities, taking concrete actions to spread love and compassion. It also reflects the journey towards Becoming One (the merger of IBVM & CJ) following in the footsteps of Mary Ward, Pilgrim of Hope.

The artwork shared throughout Mary Ward Week has been designed by Sr Susan Daily IBVM and the photos are from the 2024 Loreto Pilgrimage – In the Footsteps of Mary Ward.

Throughout this week, we invite you to join us in prayer, reflection, and conversation as we explore Mary Ward’s remarkable life and our shared call to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.
