
Meet the MPJP Committee Members

Sr Margaret Callaghan ibvm
Margaret completed her final school years at Loreto Kirribilli in Sydney. Studying English and History, she completed a BA and Dip Ed at Sydney University in 1966 and taught for three years at Muswellbrook High School in the Hunter Valley. In 1970, Margaret entered the Loreto Sisters and, from 1973 to 1995, taught at Loreto schools in Normanhurst, Adelaide, Ballarat, Brisbane, and Toorak. In three Loreto schools, she was the Religious Education Coordinator. Margaret completed a part-time Bachelor of Theology at YTU in 1992. From 1997 to 2002, she was the Province Secretary and Bursar at the Albert Park headquarters. Margaret then moved to Kirribilli, where she co-authored ‘A School with Spirit’, the history of the Loreto Kirribilli school, published in 2006. From 2006 to 2019, she worked with the temporary professed Sisters in Vietnam. Margaret returned to Australia just as the COVID-19 pandemic struck and has stayed in Sydney since. She completed a CELTA certificate in 2021 to teach English as a Second Language.

Sr Anne Kelly ibvm
An old scholar of Loreto Marryatville, Anne studied Law/Arts at Adelaide University before joining the Loreto Sisters. Her teaching career began at Loreto Mandeville Hall Toorak, followed by Sts Peter and Paul’s South Melbourne, Christian Community College Portland, Loreto Normanhurst, Loreto Marryatville, Loreto Kirribilli, Loreto Coorparoo as Principal (1985-1991), and a return to Loreto Kirribilli as Principal (1993-1999). From 1985-1991, she was actively engaged in setting up governance structures in support of lay leadership of Loreto schools in Australia and the establishment of competent, legally accredited school boards. In 2001, her life took a different direction when she moved to Northern Uganda to work under the auspices of Jesuit Refugee Service with Sudanese refugees. In 2006, she was one of three Loreto Sisters missioned to Timor-Leste. Four years later, she found herself in New York as the IBVM representative at the United Nations. She now lives in Brisbane, where she continues her work in social justice advocacy, while supporting the Loreto network as a director on the Loreto Ministries Board and member of the Province Council.

Sr Margaret Endicott rsm
Margaret is a Sister of Mercy living in Brisbane. Margaret was initially a primary school teacher and then a Principal and parish worker. Over the last 30 years, she has been primarily involved with Religious Congregations as a facilitator, trainer and a member on committees and boards, working with leadership teams and facilitating reviews and working parties. In 2006, Margaret began her involvement with the development of Ministerial Public Juridic Persons (MPJP) as the facilitator and project worker of the Queensland Mercy Leaders and their establishment of Mercy Partners. She was also a member of the Formation Committee of Mercy Partners and assisted in the development and delivery of the Formation Program for its first five years. At present, Margaret is a Sponsors’ Representative of Mercy Partners. Margaret is further involved with the New Zealand Sisters of Mercy, the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy Australia and Papua New Guinea, and the Newfoundland Sisters of Mercy. She is further involved with the Loreto Sisters establishing their MPJP, and the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta investigating the most appropriate MPJP for their school.

Sr Mary Wright ibvm
Mary is a Loreto Sister originally from Melbourne. She has a doctorate in canon law from St. Paul University, Ottawa, Canada. Mary has extensive leadership experience within the Loreto network as past Principal of Loreto College Ballarat and Loreto Kirribilli, and later on as Province Leader and Institute Leader of the Loreto Sisters. She has practiced Church law in Australia and in Rome at the Vatican Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. Currently, Mary is a director on the Loreto Ministries Board. Her specialty is the canonical governance of religious institutes and Ministerial Public Juridic Persons.

Margaret Kennedy
Margaret is a senior corporate executive and CEO with more than 25 years national and international experience with listed Australian and multinational companies across a portfolio of commercial, property, financial, operational, and retail. She has Australian company leadership experience, most recently as the CEO of the ASX200 listed Viva Energy REIT (now Waypoint REIT) from 2015-2020. Margaret is currently an independent non-executive director of Senex Energy Limited and Board Chair of Loreto Ministries Limited. Margaret is a past pupil and past parent of Loreto Toorak. She holds a B.Comm from the University of Melbourne and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
