Magic Lantern slide shows were used in the 19th century as visual aids to presentations for leisure, business and education. These glass slides are typical of those made in Britain which were 3.25 inches square glass slides. During the 19th century magic lanterns or projectors became cheaper and more portable. The lantern slides would accompany a lecture and often the script and slides were sold as a package. These slides probably would have been used as a teaching aid and are views of various Irish counties.
