Talking Transformative Love

A Loreto Podcast

Looking back on our childhood, we recall sitting with others, conversing about many things – play, drama, joy, and pain. In this circle, we begin forming our identity. As we age, our conversations change, made more complex by our ability to reflect on the past, look to the future and remain in the present, all in search of our story and where it sits within our view of God and others. Sharing these conversations with our wider network, and preserving them as part of our rich history, was the impetus for creating the Talking Transformative Love podcast series.

Initiated by Jennifer Davis, Loreto Ministries Content Creator, Loreto Novice Jwan Kada, and Loreto Sister Rachel McLoughlin, the series is a modern medium exploring what vocation means for people shaped by the 400-year-old Mary Ward story. Launched for Vocations Week 2022, we hoped to delve deeper into what it means to be called to a particular mission through love and its power to transform. Initially, the focus was on capturing our current ibvm Sisters’ incredible stories and their dedication to Mary Ward’s values of freedom, justice, sincerity, verity, and felicity. The legacy of Mary Ward, however, spreads further than just those called to religious life. She inspires women and men of all walks, and this wider circle of friends has helped shape and co-create the richness of the Mary Ward story that holds so much value in our storytelling.

Just as Mary Ward sat with her circle of friends all those centuries ago, we seek to emulate such a connection, and the humble podcast is the perfect vehicle. Through their conversational, genuine, and organic nature, podcasts are an authentic form of storytelling. They are a rich medium designed for our fast-paced, modern times. Talking Transformative Love struck a chord with many as guests openly shared anecdotes and insights into their connections to the Mary Ward family, world views, passions and dreams. In an increasingly disconnected world, Talking Transformative Love is a way for us to be more connected than ever. We can now sit together in a virtual circle and be transformed by stories of love, mission, and faith.
